Get to know Megan better:

When did you start dancing and why did you keep dancing?  I took my very first ballet class when I was about 5 years old, but my passion for dancing didn't take off until I started taking classes again in middle school. After that, I couldn't get enough. I made varsity high school dance team when I was a freshman, and stayed on for all four years.  The reason why I keep dancing, is for that wonderful feeling of performing. There is no way to describe how I feel on stage… It is literally the best feeling that I never want to live without. It is the freedom to be myself!

Why did you want to become a dance instructor? I love it when a child or grownup is so excited and pumped up about dancing, and they are eager to learn. I want to be apart of that, so I can teach them all I have learned,  and so they can have the challenge and the joy of dance!

Do you still dance or take dance lessons even though you are an instructor? Definatly. Being in classes, challenging myself, and performing is something that I need to do. It is the best feeling to be pushed beyond my limits, have a fast pace, and learn something new.

What is your favorite style of dance and why?  I have two! I love contemporary, because you can put such an amazing story through your  movements, and there is endless possibilities on how you tell it. Then there is Hip-Hop, where you can let you're true personality shine through, be fast and  just have fun!

What is the hardest part about dance to you and why?  This is a difficult question, because dance can be so hard physically, and mentally.  Personally, It drives me crazy when I can’t get a move correctly right off the bat. It will bother me so much, that even after classes I will spend hours in my room or outside practicing. Also, not being satisfied by your performances or choreography, always thinking that you could do better.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of the studio or besides teaching dance?  I am somewhat of an artsy person. I love spending my free time writing, painting, drawing, or reading! I also love spending time with my family.

What is your favorite dance quote and why?  “Dance with your heart, and your feet will follow.”
