In January of 2013 SDA added new performing classes to the studio. Rather than focusing on competition, they focus on the performance and sharing dance with the local community.
All of the students in these groups are committed, not only their performance class, but are also required to take an additional class each week for technique. Anyone who would like a challenge is welcome to try one of our performance classes -although the Showstoppers Director, Jenny, will ultimately decide if they are a good fit and will be able to participate with the class.
These classes are designed for the dancers that are ready for more. More events to dance at throughout the year, more of a commitment, more of a challenge and more FUN! Our performing group members are also given the opportunity to work individually with an instructor learning solos, duos or trios. Working in a smaller group or individually gives the student(s) important one-on-one time to develop their strengths and learn routines that are created specifically for them.
Jenny has been working hard with these dancers getting them ready for recital and other performance opportunities as they arise. You can expect to see our Showstoppers at the Robin Hood Festival in July and the Onion Festival in October as well as many other community events.
