Tuition FAQs

Why is SDA’s tuition higher than other dance studios in the area?

Your monthly payment as SDA doesn’t just include tuition! It also includes small payments each month towards your recital costume, a recital ticket, a recital video, a photo session, and more. Families love this because there are no other large purchases to make during the year!

I joined 1/2 way through the month. Do I have to pay for the entire month?

Because tuition is not dependent on how many classes are attended during the month, tuition is still paid in full. We only accept new enrollments mid-term of our Dance Season in September, October, January, and February.

Can I get tuition refunded if I drop?

Tuition is not refunded or credited if you drop part way through a month. You must fill out a Drop Request Form. All requests to end enrollment must be received by the last day of the month in order to avoid charges for the next month. Requests received on or after the first day of the month will still be charged for the current month.

Can I pay by cash/check?

All tuition must be paid by direct debit with a card saved to your account. Tuition is deducted on the 1st of each month.

I’m not using one of the recital tickets included in tuition. Can I get a refund?

You do not get refunds on unused recital tickets, but you can feel free to share your ticket with a friend or another dancer.

I would like to join a new class in January. How does inclusive tuition work then?

If you are joining SDA any time after September, you will be charged a ‘catch up on inclusions fee’ at a rate of $16-$22 per month missed, based on the program of your class. This applies only to performing classes. There is no catch up fee for tech classes.

When I enroll for the Dance Season, am I required to stay for the entire term September to June?

You may end your enrollment at any time during the term by sending a Drop Request Form to the office. All requests to end enrollment must be received by the last day of the month in order to avoid charges for the next month.

Do you prorate tuition for shorter months?

Monthly tuition is paid to hold a student's spot in the class. It is the same each month and is not dependent on how many classes are attended or offered that month. Tuition does not change because of holidays, studio closures, snow days, or recital photo days. So tuition is the same no matter how many weeks of classes there are in the month.

I dropped one of my dancer’s classes in May. Can I still get a recital ticket for that class in June?

To receive your included recital ticket, you must still be enrolled in that class in June, when the recital occurs.
