Community Support

At Sherwood Dance Academy, giving back is part of who we are. We want our dancers to experience what it means to be part of a community and to discover that even small acts can make a difference. Throughout the year, our dancers and families find ways to give, serve, and use dance to bring a little more joy into the world around us.

“Your greatness is not what you have, but what you give” - Alice Hocker

Annual Winter Showcases

A Target store interior with a Christmas tree and numerous bags filled with items, indicating a donation or charity event. The store has a display of artwork titled 'Four Eights' on the wall, and a counter with supplies, a TV, and electronic equipment.

Every December, our Winter Showcases give our dancers a chance to perform while giving back to our community. Cash donations go to SDA’s Rose Scholarship Fund, helping families afford dance classes when they would otherwise be unable to. Food donations go to Helping Hands of Sherwood, providing food to local families.

Adopt-a-Road, since 2025

Sherwood Dance Academy is proud to have adopted part of Edy Road — right by our studio home! Our staff and dance families roll up their sleeves a few times a year to help keep our street clean and welcoming for everyone who passes by.

Clothing Drive, since 2023

Our SDA families donate youth clothing for Family Promise of Tualatin Valley (FPTV), a local non-profit with the mission to end homelessness one family at a time. The clothing we gather goes to children who go to FPTV, often with no possession other than the clothes on their back.

“What a generous and impactful way to support our families! We’re so grateful for your enthusiasm and support. The clothes you collect makes such a difference.” -Marisa with FPTV

Dancing for Community

We love showing up for our community to share our love of dance!

“I just wanted to reach out and say a resounding THANK YOU to you and your dancers for coming to perform for us! The residents are still gushing about it and they had a truly wonderful experience. I've honestly never seen them that enamored with a performance, and I just wanted to let you know how deeply you and your group brought joy to them. We will be talking about it for months I'm sure!” -Arianna, Activity Director; Fircrest Senior Living

Every Act Matters
We want our dancers to know that making a difference doesn't always require doing something big. Sometimes it's picking up litter, donating something you've outgrown, helping another family, or sharing something you love. When we all contribute what we can, those small acts add up.
