January 2026 Monthly Memo

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We hope your winter break offered moments of rest, connection, and a chance to exhale. As we return to the studio, there’s a renewed sense of energy and gratitude—grateful for our dancers, our families, and the community we move through together. With refreshed spirits and focused hearts, we’re excited to step into recital season and all the meaningful moments it holds.

Accomplishing

Our mission at SDA is Empowering Students and Community Through Dance, and this month our focus is on Empowering through Finishing Something Today. Taking personal responsibility for your outcomes—no matter how small the task—creates momentum. Each completed step builds confidence, reminds us of our capability, and moves us closer to achieving our goals.

Watch for our Finish Something Today worksheet this month. Have your dancer bring a completed worksheet to the office for a chance to pick a prize out of our treasure box!

It’s Recital Season!

This will be an exciting 5.5 months packed with choreography, costuming, recital photos, and practice practice practice. We ask that all of our students make attendance a priority to allow them to feel confident and capable come recital day. Working as a team with their classmates, good attendance is also important for the entire class. If your dancer misses three or more classes between March and June or two or more classes in a row, they will be put on choreography probation. We will connect you with your dancer’s instructor to find resolution.

Additionally we ask that you hold off on family vacations that would impact your dancer’s class in May and June (through Recital Day). We appreciate your best efforts to help make the recital a huge success for all our dancers!

All my best,
Liana MacFarlane
