Keeping Our Community Beautiful

On October 19th, our Sherwood Dance Academy family gathered for our very first Borchers Drive Clean-Up — and what a wonderful afternoon it was! As part of our commitment to giving back, we’ve officially adopted the street our studio calls home. It’s one small way we can care for our community and the environment that surrounds us every day.

The forecast was a classic chaotic Oregon Autumn (rain!… now sun!… now dark clouds!…), but the clouds cleared just in time, and the sun came out to brighten our cleanup! We even had a special visitor: a bald eagle landed in a nearby tree, watching over us as we worked.

What surprised us most was just how much fun we had. With gloves, bags, and plenty of laughter, our team of volunteers made the work feel easy. I’m so thankful for everyone who came out to lend a hand — your time, energy, and smiles made the day truly special.

One of my favorite parts was seeing parents and their daughters working side by side, showing what community spirit really looks like. Moments like these strengthen not only the bonds between families but also the sense of connection that makes our dance community so special.

We’re already looking forward to the next clean-up day — and to continuing to make a positive impact, one dance (and one street!) at a time.
