November 2025 Monthly Memo

Happy November! We’re in the 5 week countdown to Winter Showcases. The studio is buzzing with holiday music and the excitement of an upcoming performance.

Our mission at SDA is Empowering Students and Community Through Dance and this month our focus is on Empowering Through Positive Affirmations! Positive affirmations are simple, powerful statements that remind you of your strength, worth, and potential. When you speak to yourself with kindness and belief, you train your mind to see challenges as opportunities and mistakes as part of growth. 💜

Watch for our Positive Affirmations worksheet to give yourself a little boost. Have your dancer complete the worksheet and bring it to the office for a chance to pick a prize out of our treasure box!

Family Movie Night!

Join us for a cozy Family Movie Night at the Studio on Saturday, November 15th at 4pm! We’ll be watching Klaus (rated PG) and enjoying a relaxing evening together with popcorn provided. Bring your blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, and wear your comfiest pajamas! This is a family event—parents, please plan to stay and enjoy the movie with your dancers. The event is free, though donations are appreciated. Space is limited, so preregistration is required.

Movie Night Registration

Save the Date: Pajama Week!

This is my personal favorite 😁
November 17th-22nd dancers get to wear their comfy cozy pajamas to dance class!!! Just make sure your PJs are still dance appropriate (a long nightgown will make class difficult)

Studio Closed for Thanksgiving - November 26th-29th

We are closed Wednesday the 26th through Saturday the 29th (open for classes the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving!). We hope you enjoy the break with your loved ones, eat amazing food, and stay toasty warm!

Save the Date: Ice Skating to Support the Rose Scholarship

On Friday, December 26th & Saturday, December 27th, Sherwood Dance Academy is proud to partner with The Winterhawks Sherwood Ice Arena for a special fundraiser benefiting our Rose Scholarship Fund. Read more.

Inclement Weather Policy & Closures:

It's that time of year to remind everyone of our inclement weather policy:

SDA follows the Sherwood School District (in Washington County) weather related closures. If SSD is closed due to weather, so are we. If SSD has a late start due to weather, studio classes starting before 12pm will be cancelled. You will be contacted by email or text message if class is cancelled.

Closures could also happen because of other unforeseen events, such as wildfires and power outages that make holding class at the studio impossible or unsafe.

All my best,
Liana MacFarlane
Owner & Director

P.S. Be sure to you’re up to date on all the Winter Showcase details and schedule. Password is in the email that sent you to this Monthly Memo.
