Loving Dance, by Ellie
From issue #2 of our Monthly Connection, Oct 2025
Hi, my name is Ellie and I dance at SDA, and love what I do. I've been dancing since I was two and over the years I have taken ballet, jazz, acro, lyrical, and showstoppers. At first I thought I wasn't going to fit in, (because I had just moved) but I soon realized that the people here care for me, and that I have connections with my classmates!
Dance means so much to me, and I don't know what I would do without it. Throughout the years I've set goals for myself like getting my splits down and pointing my toes and straightening my legs. To help me achieve my goals my teachers tell us to do over splits and practice at home! My teachers encourage us to do our very best everyday, and we do! I hope that if I keep practicing, I can achieve my goals.
I have some very close dance friends that help me and inspire me every day with their fabulous technique and useful tips and pointers. The teachers and staff are very welcoming and kind to their marvelous students. They can be strict when they need to be but they are kind and patient with us. Dancing has been a big part of my life since forever. I hope it means that much to your dancer too!
